Your Questions About Paintball Authority

Laura asks…

what woodsball paintball should i get at sports authority i have 200 dollars?

sports authority paintball guns

Paintball Chick answers:

Hazardx makes two very good recommendations. Both are in your price range. I’d be more inclined towards the Spyder because it’s got eyes and will eliminate chops. As far as internals go, both guns are pretty much the same hammer and valve configuration and haven’t changed in many years. The Spyder however will need HPA (and a force fed hopper to live up to its full potential) while the Tippmann runs on either CO2 or HPA. Depending on your access to a field with either could influence your decision.

Nothing wrong with the Ion, I still shoot a mostly stock one for speedball and run an SP8 (an Ion in Milsim clothing) for woodsball but the simple fact of the matter is Smart Parts is no more and GOG (their new incarnation) isn’t going to support old product lines. So that leaves Ebay, Craigslist and Kijiji to find markers and parts. Oh and you need to be mechanically inclined if that’s the way you wish to go.

So Mitch rather than only spout one point of view try to see the forrest for the trees.

I’ve been playing for 20+ years.

Richard asks…

Your Questions About Tippmann Paintball Gun Reviews

William asks…

tippmann X7 paintball gun?

i was wondering if anyone would recommend the tippmann X7paintball gun. im thinking about getting this gun. if anyone could leave a little review about this gun that would be great. also if someone could describe the differences between the X7 and the X7 phenom that would be awesome.

Paintball Chick answers:

I know you can get the X7 in package deals if you are looking to save some money from Ultimate Paintball http://www.pntball.com

The Phenom is Electro Pneumatic where the Basic X7 is not.

Robert asks…

Which paintball gun is the better: Spyder Electra or Tippmann 98 Custom E-trigger?

I’m looking to buy a new paintball gun. I have a tippmann 98 custom with the e-trigger but i ton’g think it shoots fast enough. I’m looking at the Spyder Electra and all the reviews i’ve read made it sound like a pretty good gun. So should I buy the Spyder or keep my tippmann?

Paintball Chick answers:

Well that all depends on wht you use it for. The spyder shoots faster but the tippmann is more accurate. Also do you bang it agaunst a lot of stuff? If so stick with the tippmann. It wont mess up if you do. I personally would stay with the tippmann. They just bought the w.a.s. Boards which can make the gun shoot over 30 paintballs per second. If you want to retrofit that then stick with the tippmann

Your Questions About Sniper Paintball Guns

Linda asks…

Do they have sniper paintball guns when you go play?

I want to choose a sniper but im not sure if they have it.

Paintball Chick answers:

I’m sorry to break this to you, but outside of a few exceptions there’s no such thing as a sniper in paintball. All fields limit shot velocity at a certain limit (somewhere between 220 feet per second for indoor fields and 300 feet per second for woodsball fields) and because of this almost all paintballs markers shoot around the same distance.

Systems like the Flatline barrel and the Apex barrel put backspin on paintballs so they can go further and hit targets at a longer distance but some people say they are not any more accurate than a normal barrel and cause the ball to go so slow it won’t even break if it hits someone (meaning they are still in the game)

Finally when a paintball is fired it rarely flies in a straight line, sometimes it hooks left, sometimes right, sometimes shoots up, sometimes takes a nosedive into the dirt. I have even seen them fly in a curling motion a few times. This is another reason why paintball snipers don’t exist. If you spend enough on a marker and practice you can get pretty good shot to shot consistency and accuracy but don’t expect it to shoot like a gun in real life or even a video game.

Some companies sell parts or even whole guns and call them snipers but this is part of the MilSim movement and the gun just LOOKS like a sniper, it cannot shoot any further and is no more accurate than a regular gun.

Richard asks…

How far can “sniper” paintball guns shoot up to?

Paintball Chick answers:

The same distance as every other paintball gun. There’s no difference in range at all.

However, there are 2 types of barrels that increase range these are flatline and apex barrels. These increase the effective range by about 50 feet however these barrels are not very accurate so using them as barrels on a “sniper” is not really on option. After all what good is having longer range if you can’t hit what you’re aiming at?

A “sniper” usually refers to a Military Simulation (Milsim) paintball gun that has been modified to be quiet and accurate. Usually the people with snipers rely on stealth to set up an ambush or in small games, simply rely on superior marksmanship. However, true sniper tactics can only be used in big scenario games, because in smaller games, the sniper is pretty much useless.

If the sniper thing still interest you i suggest looking up specialopspaintball.com they have a very large section dedicated to this kind of thing on their forums and sell the gear necessary to do it.
They also have a DVD explaining advanced sniper tactics, called “Fear the Sniper.”

Your Questions About Bt Paintball

Linda asks…

Can i install a hairpin trigger on a BT paintball assault rifle?

I need to know if i can install a hairpin trigger on any paintball gun. More importantly a BT assault rifle. I want to put the hairpin trig. on it but i dont know if its possible.

Paintball Chick answers:

No

a bt assault is a bt 4 which is a “sear tripper”
it uses springs and solid metal to launch the bolt

if you want a hair trigger you would need some kind of electro marker

you can get a nice e-trigger but it will not be as sensitive as a high end like an ego or dm

if you do choose to upgrade it to that point it will cost you more then just buying a high end electro from the start. And those markers (that have been that heavily modified) often break down

its not worth it

Nancy asks…

Does the BT Paintball model 98 car stock fit the 98 custom?

I just bought a BT paintball Model 98 CAR stock. It is supposed to fit on the Tippmann Model 98. Does it fit of the Tippmann 98 Custom?

Paintball Chick answers:

The 98 custom (98c) is really the only 98 most companies make parts for. The original 98 is obselete. BT is actually a company started by ben tippman who is the nephew of the tippman pnuematics owner. He models almost most of his markers after the tippman 98c. You should have no problems but check the website below to make sure.

Your Questions About Rap 4 Paintball Gun

Sandra asks…

which is a better Paintball gun, a tippmann A5 or A Rap 4 Frostbite sniper?

Paintball Chick answers:

Tippmann A5 :)

Lisa asks…

where can i buy a m249 saw paintball gun?

other than opsgear and rap 4 or any other cool mashine gun paintball gun

Paintball Chick answers:

Google specialopspaintball. They have some mods for 98′s and A-5′s that look kinda like the saw. But those kind of paintball guns your looking at on rap 4 are made for police and military training purposes, not recreational paintball use. The reason those are so much more expensive is because a real gun and a paintball operate very differently so you basically have to create a real 249 capable of firing paintball rounds. Law enforcement and military agencies can justify that much extra cash because they need their people to familiarize themselves with the real weapon they use, but if your just playing around with friends an A-5 is just as good for a tenth of the price. And i can tell you if you show up with one of those guns on a paintball field with experienced woodsball players you aren’t gonna look cool, because we know our upgraded A-5′s and 98′s can out perform your two thousand dollar fake gun and are about a third of the weight. Plus most paintball fields wont even let you play with that thing, for one you cant use full auto guns but even if they were cool with you just using single fire they probably wouldn’t be with you carrying a replica of a machine gun on the field, most paintball players and people in general discourage making your paintball gun look like its real. People have been killed messing around with those kind of paintball guns because all some cop or bystander with a gun saw was a kid pointing a weapon in someone elses face, or blindly firing rounds outa their car window and so they shoot them in the face. So if you want a good tactical paintball gun, get an A-5. If you just wanna look cool and play soldier with your toy machine gun go play airsoft, you’ll find a whole bunch of people doing just that.

Your Questions About Paintball Grenade

Lisa asks…

paintball grenade?

im trying to make a paintball grenade. i know that you can make an airsoft grenade using a plastic easter egg, a firecracker, and bbs. if you fill up the egg with paint, would it affect the firecracker or not.

Paintball Chick answers:

A paintball grenade is a washable poster paint and water mix (easiest) pressureized in latex tubing. When it detonates, the latex tubing squirts the paint out a small hole. That sprays out splattering people.

Even if the firecracker went off, the paint would barely do anything since it would absorb alot of the force.

Ruth asks…

How can you make a under mounted paintball grenade launcher out of common household materials?

I want to make an under mounted paintball grenade launcher. How can I do this easily with common house hold materials? Thanx.

Paintball Chick answers:

Go to you tube and look for Kip Kay

Your Questions About Piranha Paintball

Maria asks…

Can a Piranha GSX Paintball Marker Use Any Type Of Electric Hopper?

I want to get an electric hopper for my Piranha GSX that’s under $50 but is a good choice. A little over $50 is okay too.

Paintball Chick answers:

The GSX is rated at 12-16bps, so any feeder/hopper that can exceed that should be OK. The manual states “The GSX eForce grip frame is capable of high rates of fire and an agitating hopper such as an
Extreme Rage Overdrive, VL Revolution, Halo, or Evolution 2 is recommended for better performance.”

The VL Revolution is probably the cheapest of ones mentioned although I personally love my Evo III.

Nancy asks…

Is it possible to make a Paintball Piranha Marker into a Paintball Piranha Sniper?

Paintball Chick answers:

No paintball gun/marker is really compatible with the purpose of precision shooting.

Your Questions About Paintball Masks Army Of Two

William asks…

are the new army of two masks safe to use for paintball?

Paintball Chick answers:

Nooo. Please please please never try using those masks for paintball. There’s versions that are fine for airsoft but they are not designed for paintball. For one, the eyes are simply protected by a mesh screen – paintball requires a mask with an ASTM safety-certified lens.

Mark asks…

can i use a cactus hobbies army of two mask to play paintball ?

im just getting in to paint ball and i want to get a cactus hobbies mask to use as far as i can see the cover enough i just need to know if i can use it when i go to a field or if they wont let me

Paintball Chick answers:

I’m sorry but they will not let you. I’ve tried myself, but mesh eye covers are not allowed at paintball parks. Their absurd reason was that the paint would just go into your eyes. It’s true though. I love the cactus hobby masks but they are just for airsoft. Sorry bro, I know how you feel.

Your Questions About Invert Paintball Pants

Michael asks…

Do u think that I will look dumb If have dye pants proto jersey and a invert mini as my paintball gun?

I have a proto slg and want to upgrade

Paintball Chick answers:

No one cares what you look like when you play. You don’t want to be seen. I wear army pants. Everybody wears whatever they like.

Nancy asks…

How much is my paintball gun worth?

i have a barely used invert mini limited edition titanium grey paintball gun, a halo b, a vlocity jr that needs a replaced motor, a pure energy n2 tank 45ci/4500psi, (needs hydro) proto paintball pants, 4 pod pack, 2 masks and 750 balls. all items are in great shape too. i have it on ebay and i hope to get at least 400 for it

Paintball Chick answers:

You should get above $400
The invert mini is around $300ish
Halo B- $80-$60
N2 Tank 45ci/4500psi- $70-$40 because in need of hydrotest
Proto Pants- $30
4 pod pack- (what brand, if dye could be around $50-40) Probably $25
2 Masks- (again what brand) probably $20

This is separately

Now together it would probably be
Around $450, my guess
